Currently working on putting together two expeditions.
Planning on climbing Mount San Antonio, commonly known as Old Baldy or Mt Baldy over the Christmas holiday. At 10,068 ft, Mt. Baldy is the highest peak in the San Gabriel Mountains, and the highest point in Los Angeles County. The famous “Baldy Bowl” south of the summit can be a very challenging climb. Sections of the bowl have slopes of 45° to 50° and can be treacherous. These slopes can an be safely climbed when snow conditions are good.
Looking at climbing Mount Shasta during the late 2013 spring time frame. Mt Shasta is located at the southern end of the Cascade Range in Siskiyou County, California and at 14,179 feet is the second highest peak in the Cascades and the fifth highest in California.
Both expeditions will require ice axe and crampons.
